To avoid soul relaxation

I think this happens because I start to be used to the idea that God will always answer my prayers and help me. And I begin to relax. That is why I made this list that I try to follow everyday:

  • Read at least 2 chapters Bible a day. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.  Joshua 1 :8
  • Learn a psalm every month. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalms 119 :11
  • Sing song acapella everyday. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  Colossians 3 :16
  • Affirm myself in faithFor therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Roman 1 :17
  •  Push myself to help others. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Philippians 2 :4
  • Be afraid of sin. Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. John 8 :34
  • Praying before making any step. Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5 :17

I realized that my soul need discipline. Our human nature often being lazy. I still have a lot to work on myself and it’s not the end of the list. But if I remind myself to do these 7 steps I see how God becomes closer to me day by day. This is awesome.

Blessings.

  1. May I use an analogy? I love aerobatic flying. The men and women who do this for a living have to be in top physical condition. You have to work out every day or else you body can’t handle the strain of such intense flying.

We need a spiritual workout as well that includes putting on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). Going to church once a week is not sufficient. Just as we feed our physical body everyday so, too, does our spiritual body need the nourishment of God’s word.

    1. Yes same is with Bible. We need spiritual workout everyday. If we dont have top soul condition then our soul wont handle sin.

    2. Oops! Spelling error. “You” should be “your”. [You have to work out every day or else you(r) body…]. Sorry.

  2. Hi Julia. You made some really powerful points here, and I appreciate you sharing them. The “be afraid of sin” part really resonated with me. I think you’re right, that we should be afraid to disobey God, not because he is harsh or cruel, but because he is always right. He is the perfect Father, and he loves us enough to want the best for us and to keep us safe. I had the best earthly mother. She was the gentlest most loving person (and still is!) but, when I was a kid, I became genuinely afraid of disobeying her. I wasn’t so much afraid of the punishment as of what would happen if I didn’t listen. The knife really WAS sharp, I really did crack my head open when I didn’t wear my helmet, etc. Things never went well when I relaxed about following her rules, and the same is even more true of God. Thanks so much for such this inspirational post. God bless you. Audrey
